Mock Examinations Board

When I had a group of students going through examinations for the first time and were incredibly nervous, I decided to conduct a mock examination about 6 weeks prior to the ‘allocation’ date set by the AMEB.  I had “Quiet please, exams in progress’ sign and moved my furniture around in my studio to reflect one of the examination rooms at the AMEB. I had warned my students the week prior that they had better be EXTRA prepared for their next lesson, because it was going to be unpleasant for them if they weren’t.

It was difficult for me to mark my own students, but I was very honest with them and for most (some were already doing all they could), they picked up the pace of their practice and said afterwards “Can we do another mock examination next week?” (ummm no)
