Distracting students with devious devices

I recently purchased a new distracting device with the aim of using it to distract my students whilst they play a particular song, to see if they can keep playing without, well, getting distracted.  It’s an important performance technique to learn, don’t you think?

The device is called a “Gotto-Go Machine” and cost me about $5 (Aus).

I thought it would be especially good for those students of mine who have exams coming up very soon.  It might get a giggle or two out of them while we review their pieces, scales and/or exercises.

The distracting noises include:

  • Other phone
  • Door bell
  • Baby crying
  • Static
  • Dog barking
  • Traffic
  • Siren
  • Smoke Alarm
  • Female calling
  • Male calling
