Violin Game for Open Strings – Beginner

Here’s another game I play with my beginner violin students.  It really drills the open strings. I would play this during the second or third lesson after they have been drilled in open string pizzicato.

You will need:-

How to play:

  1. Each student needs a game board in front of them.  Best played either at a table, or sitting on the floor.
  2. Hold up the game cards at random.  Student needs to place a lolly on the correct string.

To make the game a little harder and to encourage note recognition, play the game again holding up the flashcards instead of the game cards, or add the flashcards in and hold them all up at random.
